Trust and teacher control
A teacher deserves to know where the answer stands.
VIDYA Copilot gives a reply and explains that it did not look in your textbook. Check the answer before deciding how to use it.
Current answers
From memory, with a clear reminder to check.
The current regular app labels replies this way. The feature that uses textbook facts is turned off. Tests did not show enough improvement when those facts were added. It is not available in the regular app.
The AI can give wrong or unclear replies. In one reported phone test of the newer version, about one in ten replies was hard to make sense of. It did worse on unfamiliar topics. Marathi answers also need more work.
These results come from one set of our tests. They do not show how much students learned or tell you how often the app will be right in every situation.
About 1 in 10 replies were hard to make sense of in one reported phone test of the newer version.
One test, one phone. Worse on unfamiliar topics.
Care with marks
A child's marks need careful checking.
The tool that suggests marks is turned off because it is not reliable enough yet.
The tool being built checks a typed student answer against the points in a marking guide. It aims to show the student's words that support each suggested mark. The teacher would make the final decision.
This explains the plan, not a tool you can rely on today. The regular app does not offer this marking process. It also cannot read handwritten answers.
- Typed student answer
- Compared with points in a marking guide
- Suggested mark, with the supporting words shown
- Teacher decides the final mark
The app and the phone's voice tools
Know what the app and the phone's other tools do.
The teacher profile stays on the phone. The app cannot connect to internet itself and does not link to the student app's school system.
Voice uses separate tools on the phone. Those tools may use internet and have their own privacy settings. The app working on the phone does not mean every other tool on the phone keeps information private.
