VIDYA Copilot: feature summary
Available now (regular app)
- Typed questions about school topics.
- Voice input through the phone's listening tool (availability and internet need vary by phone).
- Spoken replies that can begin before the reply is finished; speed varies by phone.
- Stop control to end a spoken reply.
- Quiet mode ("Speak replies aloud" off).
- Reply language: Hindi, Marathi, English or match the question (quality varies; wrong language or mixed scripts possible).
- Reminder under each reply: "Answered from memory, not from your book — worth checking."
- Teacher profile saved on the phone.
- One question at a time; no conversation memory.
Built but turned off in the regular app
- Using textbook facts to write replies (topic finding was tested; adding facts did not improve replies enough).
- Suggested marks that check a typed student answer against a marking guide and show supporting words; not reliable enough yet.
Planned or still being worked on (no release dates)
- Better language and answer quality, especially Marathi.
- The app's own listening and speaking tools so voice does not depend on phone services.
- Suggested marks teachers can check, with the teacher deciding final marks.
- Reading handwritten answers, only when reliable without internet.
- Class study reports.
- More phone tests (low-cost phones) and screen-reader accessibility checks.
New screen design being tested
Greeting, class and subject choices, starter questions, a large microphone and clearer status messages. Tapping a starter question fills the box; nothing is sent until the teacher sends it. The installed version may show the regular or the new design.
